Abu bought 2 packets of eng. cabbages seeds of different varieties (KK Cross and Eureka) on Friday, after I've been complaining and asking him to bring new seeds since the seeds he brought previously after more than a week of sowing there was no germination. I guess because the seeds weren't fresh anymore (expiry date on 2014). The packets he bought yesterday had an expiry date on 2015. KK Cross is the normal variety for Tropics while Eureka claimed to be Early maturing, sweet tastes, disease resistant and good for Coleslaw. So i planted both of them at the same time to see and make comparison.
Some of our friends also experienced the same problem..bought seeds, sowed, at the end nothing came out. However i think we must be aware of the expiry date (look at the place where i put the circle). Sometimes the shop just want to clear their stocks and sell old seeds also..so be careful if we want some results.
So yesterday I prepared a small container with some holes (made with hot nail) on each side (so that water would be able to flow and not flooding inside).
And fill up the enough soils inside,
Sprinke some seeds,
ready - now just have to wait for the seeds to split
Amazingly when i checked early this morning, in one of the container, some seeds started to split already, alhamdulillah (normally after 3 days). And that from the Eureka seeds, very fast. the other container still no changes yet.
