Kobis yang tak sempurna

Assalamualaikum,

Sudah menjadi kebiasan whenever i plant some vegetables, i would plant extras. sebab apa? cause we can't expect semua yang kita tanam tuh akan menjadi..always reserve 20% from total untuk 'spoil account'. spoiled because of disease, over watering, hujan, caterpillar dan macam2 lagi....

so for this season in the beginning i've planted about 20 kobis, so now maturing, out of it maybe 10 already harvested, 10 left. out of the ten left, i realised 2 or 3 of them will not form well..by looking at the cabbages and from expriences, we can tell that there must be something wrong with it, some fungus dah melekat on kobis. normally when fungus attacked, then the plant will spoiled, they would not finish the folding process perfectly.

And another plant but this one is ready for harvest, with some fungus on the outer layer, boleh makan lagi, inside still clean and fresh.

And finally, the ready cabbage with no fungus attacked,

see the different now - doesn't look like there's so  much black spots or dirty fungus around.

As a conclusion, kalau tak menjadi sedikit pun takper, bukan rugi pun..masih lagi cukup untuk supply for the wohle family at for one month period, inshaallah.

How to Grow Radishes from Seed

Assalamualaikum,

Radishes are one of the easiest vegetable to grow. the best time for planting is during the cool season. We can either sow them direct on the soil or prepare some seedlings and transfer plants.

Here some simple steps of planting using the transfer plants method:
- prepare a container which some holes being made on the sides and bottom of the container,

- put some soils more than 3/4 of the container (but not full)

- sprinkle some seeds, but not too much just enough to give space between the plants to grow. watering twice a day.

Notice that radishes grow very fast, we can see the changes in plant in just 2 or 3 days.

When to harvest radishes :
- Harvest promptly when radishes are the size of large marbles, before the roots get woody and bitter. Leaves and developing seedpods are also tasty.

 Verily, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it. And as for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord, but as for those who disbelieve, they say: "What did Allah intend by this parable'' By it He misleads many, and many He guides thereby. And He misleads thereby only the Fasiqin (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah). . Those who break Allah's covenant after ratifying it, and sever what Allah has ordered to be joined and do mischief on earth, it is they who are the losers. (2:26-27)

Auto or manual?

Some tips for taking photo better photos of your garden for digital camera users.

I think many of us are nowadays have digital camera, most we like to use auto program most of the time. Maybe we found that auto is much easier and we don't know much about other camera functions or settings. so most of the time let the auto program to decides the best settings for us.

or this one more?

I didn't realised about this before (since long time i didnt have digital camera after the last lost one stolen),somehow when i have this new sony cybershot and started to take lots of photos from garden, then in the beginning i realised that by choosing auto program the result wasn't that good, the colour look dull, and most of the you won't get the real colour of your subject.

So the to get the best photo with your digital camera is to choose manual program, try different setting that available, use the exposure setting to darken or lighten photo based on the condition. take a few photos of the same subject and compare.

Once you got the right setting and understood it, you wouldn't use auto program anymore, believe me!

Capsicum - another attempt

Assalamaulaikum,

Selamat menyambut Nisfu Sya'ban. A holiday for muslim schools but not public holiday for the whole country.  At night, we've attended an invitation at our neighbour house (one of the richest family in Ba with big constructions  business). They actually make some doa for their parents that passed away months ago. Also an oppurtunity to meet an indonesian family who's staying and working with them (actually long time they have been expecting to meet us)

And today, a very good day for gardening today,not hot sun, cool weather and Abu Aidan also had gone to school for his saturday additional class,so me and small gardener spent time in garden till 10am. we did quite lots of work today.

I've made small bed to plant some capsicum today. till now never really successful in planting capsicum with good result. planted  some last year, but when they started producing fruits, cold season started and the plants became dormant and died after sometimes, only managed to harvest small amount of fruits. and early this year planted some, flood came and the plant destroyed.

Some small space here for me to raise bed for capsicum. it's between carrot and radish beds. since most of radish  are almost ready for harvesting by a week, then i thought that slowly i prepare the site for chilies here, slowly removing radish and slowly planting chilies.

Many tips written on how to plant and when is the right time to sow capsicum seed somehow in the actual situation it will not always work out. happened to me, sowed like a packet of seeds and end ups not growing at all. and this time i wanted to try again. i've sowed some seed from fresh capsicum bought from market and alhamdulillah many came out and growing good, even in this cool weather where they've said not good to plant chilies. so i planted them now, and while they growing big, the hot season coming and inshallah, they'll be ready to fruiting.

So moral of the story, never give up, keep trying and experimenting in different ways, the rest leave it to Allah swt to decide.

Bunga Bunga Matahari

Assalamualaikum,

I always couldn't get enough time to write long for blog, also whenever i  want to use the notebook kena berebut with small gardener. only when able to find suitable time and enough time then can write more.

somehow, just take a look at bunga matahari yang baru muncul from the smallest plant of it's batch.
