Garden Progress as at 29/5/02 - part 2

Inshaallah this time we'll continue the garden beds details.

In this row here we planted english cabbage- the variety type Racer Drumhead. Somehow  i guess there must be something not right with the seed, maybe outdated or spoiled since it took long to germinate  and slow growing, now almost a month after seedlings the plants still pretty small if compare to the KK Kross variety.

Here in this row, english cabbage about 4 months old plus, we planted in February before 3rd round of flood here in Fiji, somehow with the will of Allah, they survived during flood and now folding and getting ready for harvesting, perhaps will take some more weeks inshaallah before they are ready to be harvested.

And here the second lot of cauliflower, aged 3 weeks plus..growing good alhamdulillah.

The next row after that we have english cabbage planted in March, now 3 months old....growing good alhamdulillah.

The photo beside it shows bed of cucumber from Soarer type of variety on the other side of garden, reaching 1 months old now.

Close to fence, we've planted some red beans, 2 weeks old..somehow it just for experiment since in this cold weather not pretty sure whether they are suitable to grow or not.

Below here some vegetable beds outside the green house, for those vegetables that tolerate to heat more.

Some okras also getting out of season since they not suitable for cold season, next to it some corns.

Then we have watermelons beds, we'll see whether they would survive in cold season or not.

And some honeydew plants almost one month old now.

Some cucumbers, Slicemaster variety- 3 months old. Fruiting but not so abundant yet.

Finally the long bed beside green house, we've planted few vegetables here.

Eng. Cabbage

Those vegetables that we've planted at the back of our house covered 1/3 of the compound. Inshallah to comply with the need and the changes in weather more modification in garden also will be made.

Since we've started gardening years back..we never do serious gardening like some life commitments.. only when we improved the structure of  our little green house, flood season settle down... and cool season coming, the interest in vegetables gardening develop more especially when you have the opportunity to plant the vegetables that suit  with cold environment like the cabbages family and tomatoes...

Take a look inside the garden as of now,

Actually dah byk perubahan in terms of batas2 sayur yang telah diubah suai dan some of the vegetables still very small.

Now, the take a look raised bed by bed....

Ni adalah 1st row of the bataslah...kami tanam kat sini leafy vegetables like sawi, pakchoi dan sawi putih... masih very small baru jer transfer plant few days aga except at the end there we have sawi yang around 1 month age...

The on the second row we have celery ,

About a week after transferred, actually anak small plants tu about 2 months like that..but they grow very slow..

Here some watercrest that we have since last year... not very good during cold season and also the plant started becoming small since of harvesting.

In this bed we planted leafy vergetables like white cabbages, green cabbages (sawi), and silverbeet..somehow some part already harvested, so the bed look slightly empty..

Below, we planted  third batch of cauliflower, about 2 weeks age now. also at the end we have the only broccoli alive about 3 months old...

Here we have some coriander, some are ready to harvest, some still very small, about 3 weeks after sowing..      

The celery we have here are more than 6 months old...somehow they grow very slow and need lots of water..at least we can use the leaves for now while waiting for the stem to be ready...

Here we have more of silverbeet, we planted batch by batch so that we would have continues supply...the earliest is about 3 weeks..and the latest that we planted the seed directly now 2 weeks old.

In this row, we planted the first batch of cauliflower, about 5 weeks old.....somehow this variety will take about 4 months to matured.
